Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 11, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Salida handles personal information across the website and app.
1. Introduction
Salida ("Salida", "we", "us") operates travel planning features through our website, app, demo mode, account tools, Plus features, and support channels.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose personal information when you use Salida.
2. Information we collect
Account data: email address, external authentication identifier (Cognito), and plan/subscription status.
Profile and preference data: display name, home city, timezone, units, and notification preferences.
Trip data: trip titles, destinations, dates, activities, notes, packing items, and expenses.
Weather and notification data: destination coordinates, weather alert context, and push subscription endpoint/keys when enabled.
Payment data: Stripe customer and subscription identifiers. Salida does not store raw payment card numbers.
AI feature data: trip context and preferences sent when you request AI-generated itineraries, Plan B ideas, or budget estimates.
Demo mode data: temporary session-only demo state in browser session storage with no account required.
Technical data: logs, IP address, browser/device details, diagnostics, and security-related signals.
Cookies/local storage data: auth/session state, preferences, demo session values, consent choices, and any analytics/advertising storage if enabled.
3. How we use information
To provide core trip planning features and keep accounts authenticated.
To process payments and manage subscriptions through Stripe.
To deliver weather forecasts, alerts, and push notifications.
To generate AI-assisted planning output when requested by users.
To support users, secure the service, detect abuse, debug issues, and improve product quality.
To show ads through Google AdSense if enabled and permitted by consent/law.
To run privacy-respecting analytics if configured in the future.
4. Third-party processors and services
AWS services (including Cognito, application hosting, databases, cache, CDN, and email tooling) support Salida infrastructure and account services.
Stripe processes subscription checkout, customer billing portal actions, and recurring billing records.
Anthropic powers AI generation requested by users through Salida features.
Visual Crossing provides weather forecast data used in planning views and alerts.
Nominatim/OpenStreetMap supports place lookup and geocoding for destinations.
Google AdSense may be used for advertising, including ad measurement and personalization depending on settings and jurisdiction.
If analytics tooling is added later, we will update this policy with the provider and purpose.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
Salida uses strictly necessary storage for sign-in and app functionality, and optional categories for preferences, analytics, and advertising.
See our Cookie Policy for full details: /cookies.
6. Advertising and Google AdSense
Salida may display ads through Google AdSense, including contextual/non-personalized ad formats.
When available and permitted, users can allow personalized ads through consent settings. Without that consent, Salida may continue using non-personalized/contextual ads where legally allowed.
In high-consent regions (including EEA/UK/Switzerland), additional consent and messaging requirements may apply before certain ad technologies can run.
Users may be shown consent or opt-out messaging where required by law.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, and export personal information, and to withdraw consent or opt out of certain processing.
For California-style requests, Salida supports access, correction, deletion, and applicable opt-out rights, plus non-discrimination for exercising rights.
Salida does not sell personal information in the traditional sense. However, some advertising technologies may be considered "sharing" or targeted advertising under certain laws.
You can submit rights requests at contact@salida-app.com and use in-app deletion while signed in.
8. Account and data deletion
Signed-in users can delete their account from Account → Profile → Danger zone in the app.
Deleting an account removes core Salida account and trip data from active systems, subject to legal retention, security/fraud records, and backup expiry windows.
If a Plus subscription is active, Salida attempts to cancel it when account deletion is initiated in-app.
See /data-deletion for more details.
9. Retention
Active account data is retained while your account remains active.
After deletion, active records are removed while backups/logs age out on normal schedules.
Billing/tax records may be retained by Stripe and/or as required by accounting or legal obligations.
10. Children
Salida is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
11. Security
We apply reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, but no service can guarantee absolute security.
